Too often marketers are told that their work “isn’t that serious,” or that they’re “not saving lives.” Well, keynote speaker Kai Deveraux Lawson begs to differ.
She wouldn’t suggest marketers are on the front lines with medical professionals, but she argues that a marketer’s work shouldn’t be so easily dismissed. Marketers have the power to shape global consciousness and foster understanding among different cultures and communities. When done intentionally, there is an opportunity to bring visibility to the fringes of our society, and overtime normalize the acceptance of ourselves and others.
Kai will address key themes where marketers can have an impact on March 30:
- Perception and Reality- How marketers are the gatekeepers of the perception of culture
- Micro moments of Power- How marketers can use the power they have (big or small) for change
- Normalizing the truth-How visibility in culture can change the narrative
- No Pain, No Gain-How the recent cultural backlash shows us it’s working
